When she was 6, our daughter had a hard time focusing on learning difficult piano concepts. Shen was so creative and always able to come up with games to make abstract concepts fun for her. It goes without saying that, as a top doctoral student in a top music school, Shen's piano ability and knowledge are exceptional. But she is also patient and genuinely likable to young students (and their parents). We feel extremely fortunate to have her as my daughter's teacher. In two short years, my daughter was able to progress from nothing to complicated pieces. Under Shen's tutelage, she even participated in the Indiana State Young Hoosier Pianist competition. This experience greatly elevated her self-confidence, which of course is spilling over into other areas of her life.
